Dimeo awards $5M New Newton North Site Contract to Ernest Guigli & Sons, Inc.

Dimeo Construction, Inc. announced this afternoon they have awarded the site package for Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts.  The “New Newton North,” which is the state’s largest public school construction project to date, will break ground in the middle of January.  Ernest Guigli & Sons, Inc hopes to have the site package to substantial completion by November, 2008.

The New Newton North site package, valued at $5,000,000 consist of two full-sized baseball fields, tennis courts, football stadium, swimming pool, soccer complex, concrete flatwork, foundation excavations, and associated underground utilities.  The project is both a building renovation and expansion around the central corridor of the school, nicknamed “Main Street” by its students.  “This project is an exciting and bold endeavor for the city of Newton,” says Matt Guigli, Project Manager for Guigli.  “The project presents us with a variety of complex technical challenges of which we are very excited to undertake.”

The New Newton North marks the first site contract awarded to Ernest Guigli & Sons by Dimeo Construction.  The fully union project is budgeted at nearly $156M in total construction costs.  “This project presents us with a unique opportunity to build a strong business relationship with new clients,” says Michael Casasanta, Senior Project Manager for the Guigli firm.  “We have a very successful track record working in the public sector, and look to use our experiences to keep this project running efficiently and to client satisfaction,” says Casasanta referring to the six public school site contracts completed by Guigli since January of 2006.

With the award, Ernest Guigli & Sons, Inc also announces a record backlog of $16.5M in earthwork since January, 2006.  A significant portion of this backlog consists of public school site packages, mostly for repeat clients.  Currently, Ernest Guigli & Sons, Inc retains contracts with General Contractors and Construction Managers including The W.T. Rich Company, F.L. Caulfield & Sons, Berry Builders, Dimeo Construction, and the renowned Agostini/Bacon Construction Companies for which Guigli substantially completed three public school site packages this year.
